Qualified  Habitat families help to build their homes by putting in working hours  called “sweat equity”.  Upon completion the home is purchased by the  qualifying Habitat family with a zero-interest mortgage.  Families can  qualify for a home by demonstrating their need for a Habitat home, by  their ability to pay, their willingness and ability to complete their  sweat equity hours, and other requirements such as completing a  homeowner education program as specified by the Cocke County Habitat  Board of Directors.
